Mullerthal Trail

Mullerthal Trail (Mëllerdall Trail) is the 112 km, multi-day long-distance hiking route through Luxembourg’s Mullerthal region (“Luxembourg’s Little Switzerland”). The trail is built as three big loops—Routes 1, 2 and 3—so you can string together multiple stages or hike one route as a self-contained trip.

You’ll see the trail marking as a red “M” on a white background, repeated often enough to support stage-by-stage navigation. The routes share connections, but each loop also has its own character and can be started from different localities.

Route 1 links Echternach (Basilica) with Rosport, Moersdorf and Herborn, emphasizing the region’s rock, forest and pasture landscape elements while still running through the Echternach area on the way.

Route 2 runs Echternach (Basilica) to Berdorf, Mullerthal, Hersberg and Scheidgen, and it’s the loop most strongly associated with prominent rock formations in the Mullerthal landscape.

Route 3 connects Mullerthal with Blumenthal, Larochette and Beaufort. This loop pairs rock scenery with stream valleys and passes by castles as you work through the surrounding landscape.

The long-distance route uses the Mullerthal region’s branded long-trail framework (three Routes plus ExtraTours). It was awarded the “Leading Quality Trails – Best of Europe” label, and the route is promoted as a certified hiking experience with regularly updated path information.
