Spring Mountain Trail #67
Spring Mountain Trail #67 is a 14.1-mile one-way backcountry hiking route in the Aldo Leopold Wilderness within the Gila National Forest. It’s built around upland travel near the Continental Divide and links trailheads at Diamond Creek and the divide at Diamond Peak.
The route starts by connecting from Diamond Creek Trail #40 and turns south at Baily Creek, then climbs a ridge to the east. From there it follows the high line across South Mesa, later returning south while staying on the mesa top.
As the trail maintains the ridge between Diamond Creek and South Diamond Creek watersheds, it intersects Turkey Park Trail #308 and South Diamond Trail #68 along the way.
Near the end, Trail #67 turns east and continues along the ridge top between the two watersheds, finishing at the Continental Divide on the north side of Diamond Peak.
Uses on this route are hiking, backpacking, and dispersed camping, and it’s designated for non-motorized travel. Where it crosses wilderness portions, bicycles are prohibited; stock feed must be certified weed free.
Plan for a remote outing: the nearest services are at least 60 miles away, and water availability is based on filtering stream water when running. No fee is charged for use of the trail, but permits are required for commercial and organized groups entering the forest.
