Upper Priest Lake Trail
Upper Priest Lake Trail (#302 / Idaho Trail #58) is an out-and-back hike along the eastern shore of Upper Priest Lake, managed with the Idaho Department of Lands and within Kaniksu National Forest.
Expect a mostly gentle profile and long stretches in forest shade, with the return generally feeling easier than the outbound climb in the late part of the hike.
Trail #302 meets Idaho Trail #58 at the north end of Upper Priest Lake; after that point, the two trails coincide along the lakeshore.
Along the route you pass Trapper Creek and the Trapper Creek trail camp area, which is also where Idaho Trail #58 is accessed for continuing routes.
The Geisinger Camp Spur branches off around the 7.9-mile mark; it leads to Geisinger trail camp.
Continuing toward the end, the trail crosses a creek at about the 7.2-mile mark and later fords Caribou Creek around 8.7 miles before finishing near East Shore Road at a small parking area.
