Upstream
Route Details
Upstream is a green-rated, easy climbing singletrack in the Alice Lake & Highlands network near Squamish. It’s designed to be ridden uphill and used as a connector so riders can reach more technical descents without having to push uphill on busy paved roads.
For mountain bikers, treat it as the “go up and keep it smooth” line: gentle grade, consistent uphill purpose, and suitability for beginner riders and families who want an approachable way to work toward steeper riding in the same area. It’s commonly worked into the classic Tour de Squamish loop starting at Alice Lake.
The trail opened in 2019 and functions as part of the Alice Lake and Highlands system built to keep traffic off roads while routing bikes safely through the network; it’s also used by e-bikes and hikers.
