Abri Forestier du Mont Lozère

Abri Forestier du Mont Lozère is an unmanned mountain shelter at 1,460 m on the Mont Lozère (Cévennes). It’s a basic stopover for hikers passing through—no beds, and you’ll need your own sleeping setup.

Inside, there’s a large table and a fireplace with a chimney that draws well. Firewood management is on you, and there’s no drinking water at the shelter itself; plan to arrive with enough water or refill from nearby sources when available.

Use is free and no reservations are taken (first come, first served). The shelter sits in the Parc national des Cévennes (core area), so campfires and bivouac are subject to park rules—follow local restrictions for where and when you can sleep and cook.
