Arthur O. Wheeler Hut

Historic ACC log cabin in Glacier National Park, open year-round. Book through the Alpine Club of Canada; member and non‑member rates vary by season (approx. $50–60 member, $60–72 non‑member). Wood heat, propane lights/stove/oven, mattresses, creek water, and outhouse provided. Bring sleeping bag, headlamp, water treatment, and standard hut kit.

Summer: park at Illecillewaet Campground lot and walk the signed path to the hut. Winter: use the Illecillewaet Valley Trails parking (designated winter parking). Obtain the free Overnight Parking Permit linked to your ACC reservation from the Rogers Pass Discovery Centre or by phone before leaving your vehicle. No sleeping in vehicles; national park pass required.

Terrain access: classic ski touring and mountaineering days into Asulkan and Illecillewaet drainages south of the highway, and Hermit objectives to the north. In winter, the Rogers Pass Winter Permit System applies for any travel in Restricted Areas; check daily status and carry the permit when required. Stay out of closed/prohibited zones.
