Base Itaguapeva

Base Itaguapeva is a backcountry support base and research shelter in Brazil’s Parque Estadual do Jurupará area. It’s managed by São Paulo state’s Fundação Florestal and is designed more for operations and short-term staging than for a commercial lodge stay.

Overnight use is limited: it’s intended for staff or official research rather than walk-in tourism. Access is coordinated through the park management, and trail access requires advance registration and authorization from park rangers. Because it’s at the far end of the Municipal Road of Ibiúna toward Piedade, getting there typically involves either a high-clearance vehicle or a long trek through mountainous terrain.

The base follows state park conservation rules and Leave-No-Trace expectations. Facilities are basic, including sanitary provision and water via catchment, and visitors are expected to carry out their trash.
