Cabañas Guaicani
Cabañas Guaicani is a rustic mountain refuge used as a base around El Cocuy, Boyacá, Colombia, near the Valle de Lagunillas area. It sits at about 3,800–3,815 m and is commonly used for multi-day treks and glacier-style approaches toward major peaks in the El Cocuy National Park area, including routes that start from the same approach corridor to Púlpito del Diablo.
From the refuge, horseback access is commonly used to cover the initial transfer toward the main park refuges (about an hour by horseback), which can reduce the long day approach burden for summit and glacier objectives. The refuge sleeps up to 15 guests, and it is used as an off-grid basecamp setting at the park entrance corridor.
