Chimo is a day-use alpine hut in the Rossland Range Recreation Site, maintained by the Friends of the Rossland Range Society. It’s one of the rustic cabins in the Strawberry Pass trail network used as a winter warmth and lunch stop while moving through the area’s backcountry routes.
Cabins in this recreation site are strictly day-use only—there is no overnight use and they’re not reservable in advance; plan on first-come, first-served use. The site also emphasizes Leave No Trace practices (pack out what you bring, keep the huts clean, and bring your own fire-starter and toilet paper), and fire use is managed by banning candles in cabins (use battery LED lighting instead).
