Daly's Clearing Hut
Daly's Clearing Hut is a Department of Conservation standard 16-bunk backcountry hut in Kaimai Mamaku Conservation Park (Bay of Plenty). It’s a two-room hut with a separate dining/living space, and there’s a small clearing outside the hut that’s suitable for camping.
Bookings aren’t required—use is first come, first served. The hut is en route to Mount Te Aroha or works as a short side trip on the way to the head of the Waitawheta Valley; the quickest approach is from the end of Franklin Road, following the Waitawheta Tramway Track south, then turning west at the junction with the Dalys Clearing Loop Track. A hut ticket is required via an honesty box (or a Backcountry Hut Pass can cover stays); fees are shown as $10 per night for adults (18+) and $5 per night for youth (5–17), with children 0–4 free. Drinking water is untreated, and there are toilet facilities using a pit latrine; there is no fireplace, but mattresses are provided.
