Doyles River PATC Cabin

Doyles River PATC Cabin is a single-room backcountry cabin in the South District of Shenandoah National Park, operated by the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club. It’s a primitive cabin setup meant for hikers who want to hike in and rely on a woodland routine. The cabin sleeps up to 12 people, using bunk beds for up to 10.

Inside is a woodstove for heat, with an outdoor pit toilet and an outdoor fireplace on the porch. Plan to bring your own sleeping bag and light source; a reliable spring is about 110 yards downhill, but you’ll need to treat or filter the water before drinking. Reservations are handled through PATC, with standard online reservations available up to 60 days in advance (last-minute stays require calling the cabin desk). Rates start around $30 per night and vary by day of week.
