Durrand Glacier Chalet

Durrand Glacier Chalet is Selkirk Mountain Experience’s main lodge at 1946 m (6384 ft) in the Northern Selkirk Mountains, at the base of the massive Durrand Glacier and at the headwaters of Carnes Creek, about 45 km NE of Revelstoke, B.C. The lodge is reached by helicopter only; flights take about 15 minutes one way, depending on weather.

The chalet is set up for SME winter and ski-program use: it’s where SME ski-programs start, with ski runs leaving from the lodge’s doorstep. It has private and two-person bedrooms (11 pine wood guest bedrooms total), a large reading room, a sauna, hot running showers, indoor plumbing, satellite guest telephone, wireless internet, and 120 V AC power via self-generated hydro electricity. It also includes an equipped kitchen for Canadian and European cuisine, daily baked bread and pastry, a drying room with boot dryers, an on-site ski shop, and indoor ski storage.
