Flagstaff Lake Hut
Flagstaff Lake Hut is a backcountry hut operated by Maine Huts & Trails, set on the east shore of Flagstaff Lake. It’s reached by the trail network using people-powered travel (biking, hiking, skiing, or snowshoeing), with the closest trailhead noted as Flagstaff Trailhead, which is about a 2-mile beginner trail in. The hut is a “first hut” option for new visitors and also a strong destination for wildlife viewing and quiet time by the lake.
The hut capacity is 48 guests across 10 bunkrooms. It has hot showers, indoor plumbing, a full commercial kitchen, electricity, and composting toilets; winter stays include heat and hot water. Access includes Flagstaff Lake for renters (canoes, kayaks, and PFDs in summer). In winter it runs late December through mid March for private room stays; during the rest of the year it’s available for full hut private rentals. Winter options include self-service trips on Mondays–Wednesdays and full-service trips on Thursdays–Sundays (with meals included and optional gear shuttles), and day visitors on Saturdays and Sundays have a food service window from 12:00–2:00 p.m.
