Jay Camp
Jay Camp is a Green Mountain Club backcountry shelter on the Long Trail, a basic hut style site with space for overnight use. It’s set up for primitive camping with a nearby privy, and use is first-come, first-served—no reservation is required. Bring your own food and overnight gear, including a tent or other shelter setup (even though there’s a shelter at the site).
The site is a tent-pad location, and the Long Trail overnight-site guidelines request limiting stays to no more than two consecutive nights. As with other Long Trail backcountry sites, there’s usually a water source nearby, but reliability and water safety can’t be guaranteed, so treat water before drinking; there are no wood stoves at these sites.
