Jay

Jay is a backcountry cabin at Shrine Mountain Inn, high above Vail Pass. The hut is managed by the 10th Mountain Division Hut Association, and Jay sleeps 12 and is bookable by sleeping spaces.

This cabin is set at about 11,223 ft and is reachable from the Vail Pass Trailhead on the standard winter route at 2.7 miles (about 615 ft of cumulative gain). Pricing is $55 to $58 per person per night; use the 10th Mountain Online Booking Platform to reserve individual spaces, and note that the hut is in the Vail Pass Winter Recreation Area where most winter use requires an additional U.S. Forest Service fee during the Thanksgiving-through-end-of-April period.
