Route Details

Julian Harrison Hut (also known as Julian Harrison Memorial Hut, and Harrison Hut) is a one-storey wilderness cabin operated by the Varsity Outdoor Club near the northern edge of the Pemberton Icefield at 1725 m. It sleeps about 15 people and is open to non-motorized, non-commercial users.

Use is paid: the hut fee is $15 per person per night. The hut has a wood stove for winter use only and an outhouse, and it has untreated drinking water. There’s no electricity, no internet, no showers, and no toilets provided (outhouse only). No reservation is required.

Access is off Lillooet South FSR: drive up the Perkins Main to the trailhead, then hike 11.9 km along the Harrison Hut Trail (6–12 hours moving time). Some groups split the approach with an overnight camp halfway.

Summer access is 1–2 days and winter access is rarely visited. Lillooet South FSR can be closed unexpectedly when extreme risk is forecast, and it’s closed to motorized vehicles April 1–June 15 and Sept. 16–Nov. 30. When using the hut wood stove, use firewood sparingly, and do not cut down surrounding endangered whitebark pine trees.
