La pastora

La Pastora is a backcountry alpine hut in Colombia used as an overnight stop for treks in the Los Nevados / Otún area, reached on foot or by route that follows the Otún River corridor from the end of the El Cedral road. Hikes commonly run several hours each way, and the hut is used as a base point before continuing deeper toward Laguna del Otún and higher páramo terrain.

Bring gear for consistently wet, muddy conditions: the access route can switch between rocky streambed segments and heavy mud patches, and you should be ready for cold nights at elevation. Plan on booking ahead where required by the managing community and be prepared to contact local partners directly for availability.
