LeConte Lodge

LeConte Lodge is a backcountry alpine hut located high atop Mt. LeConte in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, at about 6,400 feet elevation. It’s the highest guest lodge in the eastern United States and the only place in the Smoky Mountains where an overnight stay is possible in a permanent structure, accessed only by hiking; no roads lead to the lodge. The lodge is on an open glade just below the summit of Mt. LeConte and is reached by five hiking trails with lengths ranging from 5.0 to 9.1 miles.

The lodge operates from late March to mid-November. Guests stay in hand-built rough-hewn log cabins with propane heat and kerosene lanterns, and the dining room serves family-style meals. Reservations are handled through the lodge directly (phone or email), and the lodge has a published contact address in Sevierville, Tennessee.
