Lupine Yurt (YurtSki)

Lupine Yurt (YurtSki) is a winter backcountry ski yurt operated by Montana Backcountry Yurts / YurtSki in the Swan Mountains. It’s a 20' fully insulated yurt with a woodstove and kitchen, and it sleeps up to 8 people; use is by reservation.

The trip to the yurt is 11 miles: the first 5 miles follow a groomed road, and the final 6 miles are an ungroomed Morrell Mountain road with about a 2,000' gain. The operator offers a gear haul/tow service to move people and gear to the yurt, and the booking process includes a 50% nonrefundable deposit; check-in and check-out are at 12pm. The yurt has a three-sided outhouse behind the shelter, and you’ll need avalanche rescue gear (beacon, shovel, probe) for anyone visiting the yurts.
