Mogollon Baldy Cabin
Mogollon Baldy Cabin is a wilderness backcountry cabin on Mogollon Baldy in Gila National Forest, associated with the Mogollon Baldy fire lookout complex. It sits adjacent to the lookout and is part of the historic fire-detection site in this area.
The cabin was built in 1923, with fire detection used here since at least 1913. It’s reached on foot via the Mogollon Baldy Trail #152, which connects West Fork Trail #151 with Mogollon Baldy Lookout and Crest Trail #182; this trail is entirely within the Gila Wilderness and is managed for non-motorized, non-mechanized use.
There isn’t an official public cabin rental/booking system for Mogollon Baldy Cabin; it functions as living quarters and a base of operations for active summer Forest Service fire lookouts. The trail access is open year-round and has no fee for use.
