Place Glacier Glaciology Hut (also known as the Glaciology Cabin) is a small backcountry hut near Pemberton, BC, used for overnight stays on a first-come, first-served basis. It is managed by the Varsity Outdoor Club (VOC), and there is no advance reservation system; bunks and floor space are claimed when you arrive.
Because it’s non-reservable, plan for the hut to be full—bring a tent as backup. Visitors are encouraged to make a financial contribution to the VOC to support maintenance of the facilities.
The approach to the Place Glacier huts is steep and punishing, with a challenging rock scramble at the upper headwall; frozen conditions make the scramble route more technical and slow down travel.
