Red Dog
Route Details
Red Dog is a day-use alpine hut in the Rossland Range Recreation Site, operated by the Friends of Rossland Range Society. Access is typically via a short ski or snowshoe approach from the parking area near Nancy Greene Pass, making it a warm-up stop while moving through the Rossland backcountry trail network.
Use is strictly for day sheltering (warming up and brief rests). Cabins in the area are free, first-come-first-served, and overnight use is not permitted; camping in or near the cabin is also not allowed.
The cabin is a volunteer-maintained, basic facility—bring complete winter backcountry gear and be ready for self-rescue. The site is managed with “pack it in, pack it out” expectations, and you should be Bear Aware in the area.
