Red Ives Cabin

Red Ives Cabin is a historic Forest Service rental cabin in the Idaho Panhandle National Forests, set on the St. Joe Wild and Scenic River near Avery. The cabin was previously used as the Ranger Station for the Red Ives Ranger District of the St. Joe National Forest (1930s–1984) and is now set up for overnight stays with propane heat and a gas log fireplace.

Reservations are required, with a maximum stay of three nights and an 8-person maximum capacity. It runs late May through September 30, and the nightly rate is $100. Check-in requires an entry key code—after you book, you must call the St. Joe Ranger District office in Avery during weekday business hours with your reservation confirmation number to get the code.

The cabin layout includes two bedrooms, a kitchen and living room, and a bathroom with a flush toilet and shower/tub. Provided features include hot water, potable water, propane stove/oven, refrigerator, flush toilet, shower/tub, and battery lanterns for lighting (bring extra battery-powered lights if needed).
