Refuge De Baerenkopf
Refuge de Baerenkopf is a Club Alpin Français backcountry hut near Ballon d'Alsace at about 1,070 m. It’s a traditional wooden chalet-style refuge designed for hikers heading to the Baerenkopf summit area in the Massif des Vosges, with the hut located in a Natura 2000 protected zone.
The refuge offers use of a kitchen and dormitories, and it has running water in summer plus solar lighting. The hut is equipped with electricity and provides lockable storage; it accommodates up to 19 people and use requires a reservation. The operators manage COVID-related reservation constraints directly through the warden (including limits on participant numbers and the interval between reservations).
