Refuge des Agriers

Refuge des Agriers is a backcountry cabin shelter near an étang on the edge of the Creuse and the Châteauvert forest, used as an unmanned, free-access stop for hikers and passersby. The original chalet was destroyed by fire in 2017 and the refuge was rebuilt and inaugurated in 2022.

Access is from the village of Eygurande: follow the direction of the Agriers massif, then take the forest track that leads into the massif. From the Creuse side, the approach is more complicated and is mainly via footpaths and lanes. The shelter has 2 tables, a small wood-burning fireplace, toilets, and water within 100 m; wood stove use is not provided.
