Refugio Charles
Refugio Charles is a backcountry shelter used as a base at the end of the Lago Windhond trekking approach on Isla Navarino, Chile. It sits directly by Lake Windhond and is used by trekkers to regroup, fish, and shelter overnight before continuing to the wider Dientes de Navarino circuit routes.
The refuge has a wood stove and fishing-related supplies on site. It’s a basic, rustic setup with no electricity, so plan to be fully self-sufficient with your own food, fuel, and batteries. A wood fire/stove is your focus for heat and cooking; bring all other essentials (including a way to handle waste and pack out trash).
