Refugio Whymper

Refugio Whymper (Whymper Barınağı) is a high-alpine backcountry hut on Chimborazo, used for overnight staging on the mountain’s upper approaches.

It sits at about 5,060 m elevation and is intended for climbers moving between the refuges on Chimborazo’s glacier routes; planning should assume significant altitude, with the next refuge(s) on the route generally used as part of the standard two-refuge approach. Reviews and route reports also indicate the hut has seen intermittent closures in some periods.
