Scarfes Hut

Scarfes Hut is a small, historic one-room shepherd’s shelter used as a hike-in overnight stop in the Southern Flinders Ranges area of Mount Remarkable National Park. It’s reached along the Mambray Creek Valley approach, where the hut is passed partway along the Mambray Creek Track during the longer Black Range Trek route.

Plan on backpacking basics: the hut-style overnight is backed by bush camping nearby, and you need to bring all food and sleep setup—plus a stove and a tent in case the hut isn’t available. Water access at the hut is basic (a tap), and rubbish must be packed out. Fires are restricted during the fire danger season (typically Nov–Apr), so rely on park fire rules outside that window.
