the river lure
The River Lure (“Cabin #20”) is a backcountry-style cabin in Luray, Virginia, run by Shenandoah River Outfitters. It’s on 7 spacious acres on Page Valley Road (address: 5152 S Page Valley Rd) and is set up for groups who want to base on the Shenandoah River area for canoeing, kayaking, fishing, and swimming.
Cabin #20 is the largest River Lure cabin on the property: it has 3 bedrooms (2 on the main level and 1 upstairs) and 3 bathrooms, with room for up to 6 guests. The cabin has a full kitchen, and on-site comforts include washer/dryer, WiFi, streaming TV/“Roku,” and a propane fireplace. Outside, there’s a deck hot tub for up to 6, plus a fire pit and a charcoal grill.
River access is about 200 yards down the driveway. The cabin property includes a “pet-free and smoke-free” rule, and reservations are handled by checking availability on the outfitters’ cabin calendar and booking online or by phone; the cabin page also describes paying a deposit upfront and making the remaining balance 2 weeks before arrival, with a self-check-in lock box code sent shortly before the stay.
Rates are season-based on the operator’s cabin page: $250/night for Friday–Saturday and $225/night for Sunday–Thursday in spring through fall, with weekly and midweek rate options; winter rates are also listed separately. River activities are scheduled for April 1 to Oct 31 on the operator’s site.
