Tippy Dam - Rustic Cabin
Tippy Dam - Rustic Cabin is a Michigan DNR rustic cabin located in the Tippy Dam Recreation Area, set in the campground overlooking the dammed portion of the Manistee River known as Tippy Dam backwaters. It’s a compact backcountry-style option for overnight stays in a small cabin setup with a wood propane heating stove and a nearby hand pump for water (no running water in the cabin).
The cabin sleeps up to six people and includes bunk beds, solar-powered lighting (weather dependent), a table/chair, and a fire circle. A vault toilet is located nearby, and guests must bring their own cookware, linens, and towels. Reservations are required, and use is coordinated through Michigan’s state parks reservation system (call 1-800-447-2757 to book). Park entry by vehicle requires a Recreation Passport.
