Tonquin Valley Backcountry Lodge

Tonquin Valley Backcountry Lodge is a roofed backcountry option in Jasper National Park’s Tonquin Valley. However, it is permanently closed and no longer accepts bookings; the private lodges in the valley were shut down to protect the local caribou population.

For roofed hut-style overnight stays in the Tonquin Valley today, the Alpine Club of Canada’s Wates–Gibson Hut is the remaining official option, with basic self-catered facilities and the requirement to carry your own sleeping bag and all your food.
