Tyax Sky Cabin & Camp
Tyax Sky Cabin & Camp is a backcountry camp operated by Tyax on the shore of Crystal Lake, west of Mt McClure. The camp is set up as a wilderness retreat with built accommodations (a main cabin plus tent decks) and basic “creature comforts” such as solar power, hot showers, running water, and a full kitchen—aimed at guided and catered camp stays rather than walk-in hut use.
Access is only by floatplane, and flights must be added to Sky Camp packages. The official packages include catered and catered & guided options, with prices published per person per night (or per trip length for the guided package) and taxes not included; the catered package requires a 2-night, 4-person minimum. Typical inclusions across packages include a camp host, meals (including hot dinner and hot breakfast plus a packed lunch), safe filtered/treated water for refilling, and sleeping gear (sleeping bag and sleeping pad), plus camp footwear and fleeces; guests are expected to bring a sleeping bag liner/sheet and items such as bear spray, layers for cold nights, and personal medication.
Sky Camp sits on Crystal Lake (GPS on the operator’s site) and is described as an alpine-lake base for multi-day activities such as hiking (including a climb of Mt. McClure), kayaking/canoeing, animal watching, and fishing.
