Jewell Trail

Jewell connects the Gulfside Trail with the west-side base area at Marshfield Station. From Mount Washington's summit, the operator describes the return as Gulfside to Jewell. The Cog's property also contains a Jewell trailhead, with a land-use fee for access on that property.

Between the Gulfside junction and treeline, the footing is rougher and demands more precise steps than the forest section below. A Mount Washington Observatory firsthand descent in September 2025 identifies that upper section as the difficult part of the Jewell descent. Its hiking surface should not be assumed to form a continuous skintrack under shallow snow.
