This mapped point marks the Squamish Buttress walk-off on the Stawamus Chief, the descent reached after topping out on the Squamish Buttress rather than a separate climbing route. The Buttress is a 5.10c multi-pitch line and was first climbed by Fred Beckey in 1959.
A typical ascent climbs 12 pitches before the crux, followed by one easier pitch to the summit. The crux is about 25 m of steep, sustained climbing on parallel cracks. From the summit, the route uses the Chief’s standard walk-off rather than a rappel.
