Wadleigh Brook Trail

Wadleigh Brook Trail is a remote backcountry hike in the northern portion of Baxter State Park, running through the Scientific Forest Management Area (SFMA).

The route links drive-in camping at Trout Brook Farm with a Park Tote Road trailhead just west of Trout Brook, then continues on a long loop through the SFMA.

Route timing is typically about 6 hours to complete.

Along the way it passes through Blunder Bog and provides access to remote campsites, lean-tos, and tentsites.

The SFMA also overlaps with routine timber work areas; plan for possible detours and the presence of heavy equipment during operations. Stay well away from equipment and follow any orange flagging in the vicinity of active work.

Because the SFMA is within the park’s Wilderness Core, treat the trail as rugged backcountry travel and follow Leave No Trace practices.
