Abri de la Chourelle
Abri de la Chourelle is a small, ungarded backcountry shelter at 1,509 m on the Montagne du Lans above Villard-de-Lans (Vercors massif). It’s open for free first-come, first-served use: there’s no advance booking for overnight stays.
The open portion is tight and mainly functions as basic shelter, while a closed section is kept under key for local use. Plan to be self-sufficient for sleeping gear and food, and bring your own light and stove/cook setup if you need one—no heating or cooking equipment is provided. Water is available nearby at the Captage de la Chourelle, just in front of the shelter; when you arrive, refill on-site rather than relying on sources farther away.
