Aubrey Watzek Lodge

Aubrey Watzek Lodge is a winter backcountry lodge program on the Mount Hood area, used by Scouting groups and run through the Cascade Pacific Council. It’s also known as the White River Boy Scout Winterlodge, and it operates as a lodge facility rather than a simple overnight shelter.

The lodge is located at 14000 Hwy 35 in Parkdale, Oregon (about 7 miles past Government Camp on Mt. Hood). The facility sleeps up to 144 people in 4 bunkrooms and includes 4 individual kitchens plus a large central communal lounge with a fireplace.

For winter logistics, parking during the winter months requires a Sno-park permit. Reservations for the official Winter Lodge sessions are handled through the Cascade Pacific Council’s events system, with registration opening on November 1st for the winter season.

Winter participation is geared toward Scouting units: reservations require a minimum of 2 Scouts and 2 registered adult leaders, and the presence of an adult leader with current Hazardous Weather Training is required. Non-Scout groups can request a facility rental quote through the council’s facility rentals process.
