DeSoto Rock

DeSoto Rock, also known as DeSoto Crag, is an east-facing climbing bluff in Halfmoon Bay on British Columbia’s Sunshine Coast, between Sechelt and Madeira Park. The crag has a compact sport-climbing selection, with eight routes indexed across current climbing resources.

The area is suited to climbers looking for short sport pitches, with grades ranging from about V5 in local area guidance to 5.8 on Down to the Wire and 5.10a on Moss Slayer (formerly Lost Ring). Longer mixed routes were still being developed in May 2022, so inspect committed features and hardware before relying on older beta. As with other coastal rock, wet conditions can affect climbing quality; check the rock and current conditions before starting.
