Hayward Crag

Hayward Crag, also known as Hayward Lake Crag, is a granite climbing area near Mission in British Columbia. The crag is divided into Picnic Wall, Main Wall, and Playground, with sport climbing recorded at the first two walls and both sport and trad climbing represented across the area.

The routes span approximately 5.5 to 5.12a on the Yosemite Decimal System. Picnic Wall has easier, low-angle lines in the 5.5–5.8 range and convenient top-rope access; Main Wall offers routes from about 5.7 to 5.12, while Playground adds lines from 5.7 to 5.10+. Individual routes range from roughly 12 m to 30 m, including Beer Time at 5.8 and 14 m with eight bolts, and Fore the View at 5.10c and 23 m with 13 bolts.

For access, park at the Hayward Crag Trailhead near the yellow gate. The approach to the climbing area is generally described as taking 10–20 minutes. Picnic Wall sits below the lookout area and dries quickly; the walls are south- to southeast-facing, with the Main Wall sheltered in a forested setting.
