Jim Brooks Warming Hut

Jim Brooks Warming Hut is a small backcountry shelter on Snoqualmie Pass used as a winter rest stop for Nordic skiing and related events. The hut is typically open late December through March and is generally available on Fridays, weekends, and holidays when the Nordic center and local recreation groups are active.

The shelter has a small cabin with a maximum capacity of about 3 people, plus an outdoor Honey Bucket/porta-potty. Individual private hut bookings aren’t accepted; it’s first come, as a non-reservable public-use shelter during normal operating hours.

Visits often connect with Nordic trail systems around Hyak and the Cold Creek area. Winter route planning should also account for avalanche terrain: there is a potential avalanche slide zone just above the current hut location, and the Nordic center may close trail sections below that zone on higher-risk days.
