Kings Hill Cabin

Kings Hill Cabin is a backcountry log cabin in the Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest near Kings Hill Pass, about 100 yards off US Highway 89. It’s open year-round and set in lodgepole pine, with electricity and a vault toilet outside for year-round use. The cabin is a two-room setup with three bunk beds and a stove/wood-heat setup, but there’s no running water or modern bathroom facilities—bring bedding and all food and supplies, and pack out trash.

The cabin sleeps six inside, and up to 10 people total are allowed at the site (with room for one camper/RV/slide-in truck camper outside). A wood stove and firewood are provided for heating only—don’t use the supplied firewood for outside fires. Access is by paved road in summer; in winter, guests must be ready to snowmobile or ski about 100 yards to reach the cabin, and no wheeled vehicle access is allowed between December 1 and May 15 on the groomed snowmobile trail that accesses the cabin. Entry to the cabin and wood shed is by combination lock, with the code provided in the reservation confirmation. Pets are not allowed inside; keep pets leashed or kenneled outside.
