Le Buron de la Croix Saint-Robert

Le Buron de la Croix Saint-Robert is a small backcountry refuge set at about 1300 m in the Massif du Sancy area. It’s intended for winter refuge-style stays for a night, while the rest of the year is oriented toward meals/casse-croûtes rather than full hut service. The buron is run year-round, with winter access focused on periods when the road is closed to car traffic and walkers make the approach on foot.

The refuge sleeps up to 10 people and has drinking water available. It’s a reservation-oriented winter operation: there is no winter room, and for the winter guard period the stay timing and access approach are handled through the operator’s schedule. The winter season runs from mid-November to mid-December for the guarded period (10 November to 20 December), and there is no winter accommodation for the remaining winter dates.
