Maison forestière Le Rat is a small, unmanaged forest shelter on Mont Ventoux (around 1240 m). Inside you’ll find a table and a fireplace/cheminée area; there isn’t any designated sleeping space, so expect to improvise if you stay overnight.

Use is limited and seasonal: it’s typically for winter overnight stays, while access is often closed from late spring until mid-October unless you have permission. Camping and unauthorized overnight stays are heavily restricted in the Mont Ventoux protected-area framework, so overnight plans should follow the required reservation process.

Water is available as filtered stored rainwater from a cistern that you need to filter. The interior is rudimentary: there are basics for bad-weather sheltering (tables/benches), but no stove is provided.
