Mount Zimmer Yurt

Mount Zimmer Yurt is a backcountry yurt operated by Beartooth Powder Guides in the Beartooth Mountains near Cooke City, Montana. The yurt is about 20 feet in diameter and provides a base for ski access around Mount Zimmer, Mount Fox, and Sawtooth Mountain area terrain.

It sleeps 6–8 people and includes a wood stove plus a propane cook stove for inside heat and cooking. Plan on bringing your own food and personal items for self-guided stays; for groups new to renting the yurt, a guided first day is required. A private, sheltered latrine is available on site.

Access is via an approximately 4-mile approach, with snowmobile shuttles available for moving people/gear. Lodging packages are priced through the operator; for example, a Level 1 Avalanche course lists Mount Zimmer Yurt lodging for $769 per person with the price including 2 nights lodging and a snowmobile shuttle, while meals are handled by you.
