Woody Creek Cabin

Woody Creek Cabin is a backcountry wilderness hut run by Beartooth Powder Guides, accessed as a walk or skin from Cooke City. The cabin was built in summer 2012 from standing dead timber from the property and recycled materials, and it’s a single 20′ x 24′ room with a kitchen/dining area, three bunk beds downstairs, and a sleeping loft.

The cabin sleeps up to 10 people. Inside you’ll find cooking utensils and cookware, lighting, and a wood-burning stove with firewood; water is provided by melting snow in snow-melt tanks on the stove or by a spring creek a short distance from the cabin. For waste management there’s an external composting outhouse, plus an external greywater + ash drop zone.

Use is set up as nightly whole-cabin rental through Beartooth Powder Guides, with Private Rental – Whole Cabin at $475 per night and “First Time Hut User Orientation” required for first-time visitors. Winter users are required to have a Group Leader who has completed a minimum Level 1 Avalanche Course and a basic First Aid Course, and winter plans are tied to the current avalanche forecast from the Gallatin National Forest Avalanche Center.
