Mountain View Snow Shelter

Mountain View Snow Shelter is a backcountry winter warming shelter in the Willamette National Forest, used by people traveling into the area via cross-country ski or snowshoe routes. It’s a first-come, first-served shelter (no reservations) with a maximum overnight stay of 3 nights and an overnight capacity of up to 15 people, so plan on sharing space.

The shelter has a wood stove and firewood is provided, plus an outhouse nearby. Overnight access is seasonal (open for overnight stays from November 15 through April 30), and parking at the trail access requires an Oregon Sno-Park permit (valid during the winter season). Plan to bring your own lighting (candles are prohibited) and pack out all garbage and human waste; there’s no potable water and no restroom facilities at the shelter itself.
