Witzes Hut
Witzes Hut is a backcountry cabin in Kosciuszko National Park, historically built in 1952. It sits on the plains between Tantangara Dam and Gooandra Homestead and functions as a simple wilderness overnight stop on long-distance bushwalking routes through the area.
The hut is a slab-cabin style structure (6 m by 3 m) with a raised wooden floor, a gable roof, a single window, and a stone hearth with an iron-clad chimney. A toilet sits up the hill above the old water race, and there’s an alternate name commonly used for the hut: Tantangara Hut.
