Buena Vista Trail #637

Buena Vista Trail #637 is a long-distance hiking route in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest near Show Low, Arizona. The route is a stacked-loop system designed to keep you from retracing the same tread over and over, while still using a single named loop route number.

Length for the full loop system is about 5 to 7.5 miles, with roughly 1,200 feet of total elevation change. Expect sustained climbing rather than brief rises; plan time accordingly for the amount of vertical gain.

The trail is accessed from Forest Road 300 (Rim Road). From there, the route runs on dirt tread (including sections that are also equestrian-usable), so traction and footing are driven by soil conditions rather than pavement or boardwalk surfaces.

This trail sits within the White Mountains Trail System, where Buena Vista Trail #637 is paired with other connector and standalone trails in the area. It’s also listed with mountain bike use (and equestrian use), so expect mixed trail traffic depending on your time of day.
