Comstock Couloir is a classic backcountry ski line that demands respect and proper conditions. This steep, narrow chute offers committed skiing through variable terrain that can range from hero powder to wind-scoured hardpack depending on recent weather patterns.
The couloir requires solid intermediate to advanced backcountry skills, proper avalanche education, and the right snow conditions. When it's in, it provides an exhilarating descent, but the approach and exit demand route-finding competence and the ability to assess changing conditions throughout the tour.
