Mycology Crag
Mycology Crag, also known in climbing publications as Mycology Rock, is a west-facing, mostly overhanging cliff near Alice Lake in Squamish. The wall has filtered sun and stays relatively cool on hot days, with a year-round creek nearby.
The approach takes about 10 minutes from parking at the corner of Black Bear Road and Alice Lake Road. Follow the Wonderland trail until a Mycology Rock sign near a large cedar marks the flat, easy climbers’ trail to the cliff.
The crag has eight current climbs from about 5.10+ to 5.12, including Psilocybin, Mycotopia, Mycotopia Direct Start, Amanita Dreaming, Matsutake, Chasing Mycelium, The Future is Fungi, and Flight of the Goomba. The mix is predominantly mixed climbing, with two gear routes and one fully bolted sport route.
A 60 m rope works for all routes. Because the wall was newly developed and the rock may still exfoliate, wear a helmet; harder extensions above some existing lines may also be possible.
